So what is Project 58.7?
We have been operating since 2008 as a project of Churches Together in Basildon
We have 50+ volunteers from across the Christian community in Basildon
The name is based on Isaiah chapter 58 verse 7 in the Bible:
“….. is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter – when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? “
What do we provide?
- A free hot meal and drink throughout the year, providing 15-20 meals on seven nights a week
- Support to any adult in need or rough sleeping/homeless
- A listening ear
- Prayer available for people and their situations if requested
- practical help e.g., clothes, sleeping bags, tents, form filling, etc
- Signposting to other agencies e.g., benefits, housing, training, rehab, debt counselling, CAB etc.
Meals are available from 6.00 to about 7.30 at:
MONDAYS Salvation Army
TUESDAYS Christian Growth Centre
WEDNESDAYS & THURSDAYS The Church in Honeypot Lane
