Schools Team Ministry

Churches Together in Basildon support a schools worker who visits nearly all the Basildon Schools taking assemblies and lessons. In addition the Schools Team Ministry also has a voluntary puppet team who visit as many infant and primary schools each term as can be fitted in with the famous Horse and Donkey. The schools team also support after school clubs called Alf Clubs where children can come regularly and hear about the Gospel in a relaxing and fun atmosphere. This year STM have made extra visits to many of the town's Junior schools to take  special hour long  Christmas and Easter presentations. Kirsten Thomson had to leave STM in August due to long term ill health.  STM are very grateful for all that Kirsten achieved for STM and wish her a full recovery to better health in the future.

In September Becky keith was appointed to take over the work and has been taking assemblies in the Basildon primary schools since the beginning of October 2011. Becky will be sharing her vision for the work at the Celelbration on 29th January at Kingswood Baptist.  

There is a regular prayer group that meets mainly on the last Wednesday of each month at Ingaway Chapel in Ingaway near Lee Chapel School. Everybody is welcome to come and help support the work with regular prayer. The group meets at 10.30am and enjoys a cup of coffee and chat about the work before praying about the issues and events that are current. Supporting a full time worker costs a lot of money and STM is grateful for all the financial support it receives from the churches and from individuals from Basildon and from further afield. For the last four years STM has run an annual sponsored walk to raise funds and have an enjoyable day out. STM has also run quiz nights and Indian feasts which have proved popular and enjoyable nights out as well as raising useful funds for the team.
