About Us
Churches Together in Basildon is made up of most of the churches in Basildon including the Anglican Churches, Roman Catholic Churches , Methodist, United Reformed, and a wide collection of Independent churches and churches belonging to smaller denominational groups.
All the churches share the same basic beliefs of the Christian Gospel and are united in their desire to spread the good news of Christianity. Members of the Churches believe that Churches working together is more successful than Churches working on their own.
Joint activities include three joint celebrations a year, Prayer Breakfasts and Lunches, the Walk of Witness in Basildon Town Centre, and Carol singing in the town and hospital.
Churches Together are also looking after the homeless on a regular basis, called Project 58.7.Since January 2011, Project 58:7 has handed out over 3200 hot meals per week to over 200 different people on the streets or in financial need; supplied over 60 sleeping bags, clothes, food parcels and furnishing for flats, as well as Boxing Day lunch.
Churches Together also run a drop in centre every Friday Night at the United Reformed Chuch in Honeypot Lane. A very nice hot cooked meal is provided and there are games for those who want to take place. Evertybody who feels lonely is very welcome to come and join in.
Churches Together is run by a board of people who represent the individual churches. The chair person this year is Mark Barford, pastor of the church at Swan Mead. He can be contacted through our general contact information on our contact page.
